Tried mounting my monitor with just the bracket that came with the desk. Big mistake.

Big mistake" is right. It's funny how we always assume the thing that comes with the purchase is good enough, isn't it? Like how people use the little plastic funnel that comes with their oil jug to refill their car, then wonder why it spills everywhere. It's the same with those cheap brackets, they're just there to say they included something, not to actually hold your stuff up. My rule now is if I'm trusting it with something heavy or expensive, I buy a separate, solid mount.

I dunno, sometimes the included stuff works fine if you're careful.
