That Ikea display desk setup in Chicago made me hate my own cables
I was up in Chicago last weekend visiting a friend and we wandered into Ikea just to kill time. They had this whole room setup with a sit-stand desk, monitor arms, and everything routed through these little plastic channels I never noticed before. It was so clean I actually stopped and took a photo, which is ridiculous because I have a tangle of cords under my desk at home. Got back Sunday and spent 3 hours trying to replicate it with some cheap cable sleeves from Amazon. My surge protector is still a mess but at least the charging cables are bundled now. Has anyone else used those magnetic cable clips that stick to the desk frame? I'm wondering if they hold up with heavier power bricks.

Hey, I remember reading something about those magnetic clips just last month on a tech site. Someone tested them with a big laptop charger block and said they held up fine for a few weeks, but then the magnet started sliding around if the desk got bumped a lot. I've got a cheap set of adhesive cable raceways from Home Depot and they've been solid for about eight months now. The sticky side holds tight even with a heavy power strip stuffed in there. Maybe try those if the magnets give you trouble.

Magnetic clips are one of those things that sound great until you actually rely on them. That sliding issue would drive me nuts, especially with a heavy charger block involved. Good to know the raceways are still holding up after eight months, that's way more reassuring than a few weeks of testing.
