Spotted a $3 solution for cable mess at the IKEA as-is section yesterday
Grabbed a pack of little adhesive cable clips for $3 and they cleaned up the rat's nest behind my computer desk in under 10 minutes, anyone else find cheap fixes in weird spots?

Oh, that's a good little find. I've noticed over the years that the real bargains are never in the fancy sections, they're always tucked away where nobody's looking. It's like the universe's way of rewarding people who take the time to hunt around. I found a magnetic knife strip in the clearance bin at a hardware store once, stuck it under my kitchen cabinet and it's been holding my heavy cast iron pans for three years now. Sometimes the cheap stuff is actually more clever than the expensive version.

Three years holding cast iron pans on a clearance magnetic strip sounds like a decent hack, but it's still a magnetic strip. Not exactly a triumph of engineering. Half the time those cheap ones lose their grip after a few months or the adhesive gives out. You got lucky is all. I tried a similar dollar store solution for my spice jars and they were on the floor within a week. Sometimes cheap stuff is just cheap stuff.

Three dollars at a thrift store got me a blender that's still going strong five years later, @patriciacarr.
