My cable management binge last Tuesday turned into a disaster
I finally decided to tackle the rat's nest under my desk, so I bought 50 zip ties and a pack of cable sleeves from Home Depot. I spent 3 hours routing everything perfectly along the desk legs and called it done. Then I realized I needed to unplug my monitor to add a new USB hub, and I had to cut half the ties because I'd strapped everything too tight. Has anyone else found that the popular 'tidy look' setups with hidden cables are just a pain to actually change later?

Nah I gotta disagree. Proper planning makes it work. Leave slack loops at connection points and you're golden.

Man I did the same thing with 30 zip ties on my desk last month and regretted every single one.

Honestly just skip the zip ties altogether. Velcro straps are way easier to undo when you need to swap something out. I learned that lesson the hard way too after a desk redo. You don't need to make it look like a professional install unless you never plan to touch it again. Cable sleeves are fine but leave some slack so you don't have to cut everything. That tidy look is great for photos but a nightmare for daily use.
