Just measured my desk cable drop and was shocked

I finally got around to measuring the actual length of cables hanging down from my desk setup last night. Turns out I have about 18 feet of loose cable just dangling under there between my monitor, laptop, and phone charger. That's more than a full extension cord's worth of wire making a mess! I found this out when I was trying to figure out why my desk always looked so cluttered even when I cleaned it. Anyone else ever actually measure their extra cable length and get surprised by how much there is?

Wait, did you seriously find 18 feet under there? That's WILD. I used to think cable management was basically just shoving everything behind the desk and calling it a day, but then I actually pulled out a tape measure and counted up 14 feet of random charger cables and USB cords. It honestly changed how I see the whole setup. I realized all that extra wire was making my desk look way more cluttered than it actually was. Now I actually bundle the excess with twist ties and it makes a HUGE difference. You really don't notice the space those cables take up until you see the number on the tape measure.

Honestly it's like we all just accept clutter as normal until we actually look at it.
