Unpopular opinion: my dad was right about using vinegar for everything

So my old man always said to mix white vinegar and water 50/50 for cleaning windows and descaling the coffee maker. I thought he was just cheaping out on Windex and CLR for years. Tried it on my showerhead last month after it clogged up in 3 months from our hard water in Phoenix, and it actually worked better than the store stuff. Has anyone else gotten bad advice from a relative that turned out to be the real deal?

That 50/50 ratio is actually pretty solid for most stuff but just a heads up, on certain surfaces like marble or granite, the acid in vinegar can eat away at the sealant over time. Learned that the hard way on my kitchen countertop.

Wait til you try it on a brand new grout line.

Man that stings. Sorry you had to learn that one the hard way, always a bummer when you're just trying to clean and end up messing something up instead.
