The neighbor who showed me how to fix a stuck garbage disposal with a hex key

My neighbor Bob came over last Tuesday when my disposal was making that awful grinding noise. He just reached under the sink, grabbed a 1/4 inch hex key from his pocket, and showed me how to manually rotate the flywheel plate to free up the jam. Has anyone else found that simple trick works better than trying to reset the button on the bottom?

That hex key trick is (honestly) way more effective than the reset button in my experience.

Wait, hex key trick? Please tell me you are talking about the old printer model from 2012 with the side panel that pops off. I had no idea a hex key could work for anything other than opening those little toner cartridge covers. @gavin_reed, are you saying you actually jammed a hex key into that tiny hole next to the power button? That sounds like a good way to break the whole thing, but I guess if it works, it works better than hitting reset ten times.
