Just realized I've been using the wrong kind of caulk on my bathroom window for years
I was redoing the seal around my bathroom window in my old house in Akron and noticed the old stuff was always cracking... my buddy who does tile work came over, pointed at the tube, and said 'that's for inside only, you need the outdoor kind for a window that gets wet.' I had no idea there was a difference. Has anyone else made a simple mistake like that with a basic material?

Actually, your buddy's mostly right, but the real key is using silicone for wet areas.

Silicone lasts about 20 years in a shower, while basic caulk fails in a few. That flexibility is why it handles steam and water so much better. It's the only thing I trust around tubs now.
