Just lost a full day's pay on a vinyl fence job because I didn't check for a gas line first.

The city marked out the water and electric, but not the gas. Hit it with the auger about two feet down. The gas company's fine was $500, plus the time to fix it. Anyone have a good checklist they use before they start digging?

Ugh, that's the worst. I read a whole article about how utility marks miss stuff ALL the time, you really gotta call them all yourself. Sounds like @sean_foster99's cousin learned the hard way too.

Man, that's brutal. My cousin did something similar but with a fiber optic line for the whole neighborhood. They were putting in a new mailbox post and sliced right through it. Internet was out for like six hours. He said the sound was this weird crunchy pop. The phone company was NOT happy.
