Serious question, why does everyone say you can't mix silk and denim?

I made a blazer last week with a silk lining and a heavy denim shell, thinking it would be a mess. The silk didn't rip at all and the jacket drapes way better than my old polyester-lined ones. I learned that a good seam allowance and a walking foot on my machine made it work. Has anyone else tried a fabric combo people said would fail?

Totally get that. I was in the same boat for the longest time. It took seeing it work out for a friend to really change my mind on it. Now I look back and wonder why I was so against it.

Yeah, that bit about wondering why you were so against it really hits. I had that same surprise moment a few years back. @ericnguyen you mentioned you used to think it was a bad idea too. For me it was the logistics that finally clicked. Once I sat down and mapped out the actual time and money it saved in a week it was hard to argue with the numbers. Like you said, sometimes you just have to see the proof in action to drop the old opinion.
