Rant: A client told me my designs were 'too safe' and it stung
I was showing a collection to a regular client in Portland, and she flat-out said, 'Your silhouettes are beautiful, but I've seen this all before.' I scrapped half the line and started sketching with weirder fabrics and more dramatic cuts, like asymmetric wool coats. Has a piece of harsh feedback ever actually improved your creative process?

Maybe she just had a bad day.

I've had feedback that stung too, but like @xenawhite said, maybe it was just a bad day that led to my best weird coat idea.

That article about rejection landing somewhere in the creative process comes to mind - sometimes the worst comments accidentally push you toward the weird stuff that actually works.
