My 8 year old cousin said my dress looked like a sad curtain and now I can't unsee it
Was at a family BBQ last weekend and my little cousin Lily, who's 8, looks at my new floral midi dress dead serious and goes 'why does your outfit look like a sad curtain?' I laughed it off but now every time I look at the gathers at the waist I swear it's just a repurposed window treatment. She's not wrong about the drape either. Anyone else had a kid hit them with a brutally honest critique that actually made you rethink a whole design choice?

That "sad curtain" remark is a bit harsh for an 8 year old, but kids that age are just starting to notice fabric and drape in a simple way. I actually like the sound of your dress - floral midis with soft gathers have a nice comfortable look to them, kind of like something from a summer garden party.

Kids roast everything at that age, just tell her the dress has "character flow" and move on lol.
