I finally ripped the zipper off my own jacket design and had to fix it at 2 AM
I was showing off my new jacket pattern at a small meetup in Portland last month, and on the third try-on the zipper pull just snapped off the track. The teeth were too small for the weight of the fabric I used, plain and simple. I spent that whole night unpicking the zipper and sewing in a heavy-duty YKK replacement by hand. Has anyone else had a design fail during a live demo like that, or am I the only one who learns the hard way?

Oh man, that's rough. I've totally been there with a project self-destructing right when you're trying to show it off. At least you caught it before the whole jacket fell apart on someone, right?

Was the seam ripper from a set you got on sale, or one of those pricier ergonomic ones? Because I've noticed the cheap ones can snag fabric and cause this exact kind of disaster.
