A kid at the park said my new jacket looked like a 'sad potato sack' and it got me thinking.
I spent a week working on a loose, draped linen jacket, aiming for a relaxed look. The comment made me question if the shape was just sloppy instead of intentional. Do you think a design needs to be clearly 'designed' to work, or can something simple and loose still be good?

But that "intention shows" idea is just wishful thinking if the final product looks messy.

Wait wait wait. Did you just say intention shows is wishful thinking? @uma_webb28 I gotta disagree on that one. When you sew something yourself, every seam and stitch has a reason. You can tell the difference between a rushed hem and a measured one from across the room. Messy is when you gave up halfway through, not when you made a deliberate choice. That loose linen jacket from the other comment? I bet it looked casual but clean up close.

Kids are brutal, but they also say whatever pops into their head without a filter. A loose linen jacket sounds comfortable and cool, honestly. The line between sloppy and relaxed is super thin, but if you made it with care, that intention shows. Sometimes the simplest shapes are the hardest to get right and end up looking the best.
