My old mentor in Boise warned me about using a certain brand of hoof testers on heavy horses, and after one bent on a Percheron last month, I finally listened.
He specifically said 'those lightweight ones from that new catalog will fold like a taco on anything over 1,500 pounds,' and now I'm looking for a more solid set... anyone have a brand they trust for big drafts?

My old boss used those cheap testers on Belgians for years without a single bend, so maybe it's just bad luck @nancy351.

What brand were the ones that bent on you?

Yeah, so it was the cheaper store brand from the big home store, the one with the blue logo. @nancy351, I mean they were fine for a few months but then just gave out under normal use, which is pretty bad. I had a pot on one and the whole bar just sagged down on one side. Maybe it's just me but I expect a rack to hold a pot without bending. It felt like the metal was just too thin, you know? I wouldn't buy that kind again.
