My best nippers chipped on a cold morning - anyone else have that happen?
Last Tuesday it was like 15 degrees out and I was trimming a draft cross in an unheated barn. Hit a tough spot on the hoof wall and my nippers just chipped right at the edge. I finished the trim with my backup pair but it slowed me way down. Has anyone else had issues with tools getting brittle in the cold?

Lost a nice pair of diamond farrier nippers that way. Left them in the truck overnight in single digits and they just snapped clean. Now I bring everything inside when it gets below freezing.

My 2007 Ford F-150 was the real culprit here actually. Left my favorite pair of nippers in the glovebox overnight when it hit 8 degrees and the next morning I went to nip a little quarter crack and the blade just popped right off. Still find pieces of that poor thing in my tool box. I felt like a real idiot standing there holding half a tool and a dumbfounded horse. Now I bring everything in the house and my wife gives me that look like I'm tracking hoof dust on her clean floors. At least my tools stay in one piece though right?
