Had to choose between hot shoeing and cold shoeing for a tricky quarter crack. Went with hot.
Old timer I helped out back in 2019 swears by cold for everything. But this mare had a nasty quarter crack on the right front and I didn't want to risk it splitting more. Hot shoe let me shape the shoe exact to the foot without pressure points. Healed up fine in about 8 weeks. Has anyone else had better luck with one method over the other for crack repairs?

Hot shoeing is like using a custom key vs a skeleton key, sometimes the extra precision just makes everything fit better and saves a headache down the road.

The custom key analogy really nails it though. When you take the time to match everything up just right, you're basically avoiding all those little fixes you'd have to make later. That upfront effort pays off big time when nothing goes wrong during the actual roast.
