Had a stubborn case of laminitis that just wouldn't resolve with the usual trim
I mean, it was a draft cross in Michigan, and we kept adjusting the breakover and supporting the heel, but the digital cushion just wasn't coming back. Took almost 8 months of consistent work and a custom pour-in pad before we saw real improvement. Anyone else had a horse where the standard approach just didn't cut it?

My farrier in Oregon would have started with a different trim angle from day one. We've had better luck getting that cushion back by not supporting the heel quite so much.

Makes sense, that extra support can sometimes stop the foot from doing its natural job.

Yeah, we backed off the heel support and saw a big difference.
