Had a horse at the county fair in Springfield go down hard during a shoeing

The owner had been feeding a crazy high grain diet and the horse's hooves were just crumbling. Ever since, I make a point to ask about feed before I even pick up a foot.

Yeah, laminitis is the nightmare scenario. It's wild how some folks still treat grain like it's harmless candy. I've seen too many good horses wrecked by a feed bucket. Now I just assume a horse is on too much grain until the owner proves otherwise.
