Vent: My grandma's pie crust recipe took me 4 hours to get right

I wanted to make her famous apple pie from a handwritten card. The dough kept tearing when I rolled it out, so I kept adding more water. That made it tough. I finally called my mom, who said the trick is to keep everything super cold, even the flour. I had to start over three times. Does anyone else have a family recipe that's way harder than it looks?

Does it feel like a trap because once you make it, everyone expects you to bring it to every gathering from then on? My grandma's famous potato casserole ended up being my assigned dish for every holiday for like ten years straight. I love the recipe and I'm glad she shared it with me, but man, sometimes I wish I'd kept the secret to myself.
