My grandma's potato salad recipe had a secret ingredient I just found out about
For years, I made her potato salad exactly how she showed me: boiled russets, mayo, celery, and hard-boiled eggs. It was good, but never quite the same as hers. Last month, my aunt was going through old boxes and found a recipe card from 1978. Turns out, she always added a tablespoon of yellow mustard and a splash of pickle juice from the jar. I tried it with my batch for the 4th of July picnic, and it was a total game-changer. The mustard gave it a little tang and the pickle juice brightened the whole thing up. I can't believe I've been missing that for over a decade. Has anyone else had a family recipe 'secret' revealed to them years later?

Found out my buddy's mom puts a little sugar in her chili.

Honestly that's nothing, my aunt puts a packet of hot cocoa mix in hers. She says it makes it "deep and rich" but it just tastes weirdly sweet and dusty to me. I tried it once to be nice and couldn't even finish the bowl. Some people just have their own rules for cooking that make no sense to anyone else.

Did @lisa_hart26's aunt use milk or water with that cocoa mix?
