My grandma's 'pinch of salt' advice ruined my chocolate chip cookies for years
My grandma always told me to add a pinch of salt to cookie dough to bring out the sweetness. Turns out her pinch was more like a half teaspoon. I followed that advice for years until my sister tried my cookies and asked why they tasted like pretend pretzels. Now I measure salt properly and they actually taste good. Has anyone else had a family member give advice that was way off?

Pretend pretzels" is the best description of a cookie I've ever heard.

Wait, did you hear about that study they did a while back comparing cookies to actual soft pretzels? I caught a segment on the radio about it and apparently they found that both have that same golden brown look but cookies are way more fragile and crumbly. Just made me think of that when you said "pretend pretzels" because it's so true how cookies try to look all sturdy like a pretzel but then just fall apart in your hand or get all gooey in the middle.
