My grandma swore by adding a pinch of sugar to tomato sauce, and I finally tried it
She told me this for years, saying it cuts the acid without making it sweet. Last Tuesday, I was making a big pot of sauce and my tomatoes were really tart. I added maybe a quarter teaspoon of white sugar while it simmered. The whole flavor just smoothed out perfectly, and my picky kid ate two bowls. Has anyone else's family given you a tiny tip that actually worked?

Always thought that was silly... but it works.

Wait you actually tried it? That's wild, never thought anyone would go through with that. The whole thing seems so ridiculous when you read about it online. But now you're saying it actually does the job? Guess you can't argue with results, even if they come from a silly idea.

Honestly the whole idea is still pretty dumb though. Just because something works once doesn't mean it's a good plan. You could get the same result without all the extra, silly steps.
