I always thought my grandma's pie crust recipe was perfect until I visited a diner in Flagstaff

Grandma's crust is a family treasure, but a diner having a better one is a pretty wild claim. Those places usually use frozen dough or a mix. Maybe you were just really hungry that day. Nostalgia can make us forget that sometimes other food is just food.

My uncle swore by this gas station chicken for years. He'd drive twenty minutes out of his way just to get it. Turns out the guy working there used to run a legit soul food place that burned down. You really never know where you'll find someone who cares about what they're making.

Oh man, "gas station chicken" totally got me. That's like that time I was in Nowhere, Idaho and stopped at a place that looked like a front for something illegal. Turns out the lady running the fryer had been the head cook at a fancy hotel in Boise for 20 years. She retired and just wanted a quiet life but couldn't stop making her famous fried green beans. I even told @matthew864 about it later because I knew he'd get it. Anyway, back to your grandma's crust. Sometimes you just stumble on a hidden genius working a boring job and it ruins everything you thought you knew.
