Almost ruined a batch of cookies because I ignored my oven thermometer
I was baking at my sister's house in Nashville last Sunday and her oven was off by 75 degrees. Ended up with hockey pucks instead of chocolate chip cookies and had to start over from scratch with a $8 thermometer from the grocery store. Anyone else had a recipe fail because your oven lied to you?

Wait are we really acting like an off oven is some kind of betrayal? I mean yeah it's annoying but you just adjust the temp and move on. Ovens have their quirks, it's not that deep.

Used to be on your side honestly. Thought people were being dramatic about oven temps. Then my old oven started running 50 degrees hot without warning. Ruined a whole batch of cookies for a bake sale. Now I get it. It's not the temp swing that bugs me, it's that you can't trust it. Makes baking stressful.
