Warning: I just threw away $40 on a 'miracle' drain cleaner that did nothing
My kitchen sink started draining slow a couple weeks ago. I saw an ad for this gel cleaner that promised to clear any clog in 30 minutes, no tools needed. I bought it for $40 at the hardware store, poured the whole bottle down, and waited. It just sat there and barely fizzed, and the drain was still completely blocked. I ended up having to call a plumber anyway. Has anyone found a cheap home method that actually works for a bad kitchen clog?

That whole "miracle solution" industry preys on the exact moment you feel frustrated and just want a quick fix. It's not just drain cleaner, it's the same with those weird kitchen gadgets or fitness gear that never works like the ad shows. They sell you hope in a bottle for a problem that usually needs real work to solve. It's a shame they get away with it, because that forty bucks could have just gone straight to the plumber from the start.

I dunno man, is it really that deep? Some of those drain cleaners work fine for slow drains that just need a little boost. I've used the liquid stuff on a bathroom sink that was draining slow and it cleared it up no problem. People act like a $5 bottle is some kind of scam but if it saves you a $200 plumber visit for a minor clog, who cares if the ad was a little dramatic?
