That cashier at Lowe's told me I was overcomplicating my garage shelf project

I was standing there trying to figure out which heavy duty brackets to buy for a shelf that would hold maybe 200 pounds of paint cans and tools. She walked over and said 'just use 2x4s and deck screws, you're way overthinking it.' So I did exactly that for $12 and it's been solid for 3 months now. Anyone else ever get a simple reality check from a stranger that saved you both money and headache?

Honestly, it's amazing how often we miss the simple fix because experts make us think we need the complicated one.
