Read that a slow cooker uses less power than a regular oven, but the numbers threw me off
I was looking up ways to cut my electric bill and found a fact sheet from my local utility company. It said running my oven for an hour costs about 3 times more than running a slow cooker for 8 hours. That blew my mind because I always thought the long cook time would add up. So now I'm debating if it's really a better deal for everything, or just for big cuts of meat. Do you guys think the energy savings are worth planning more slow cooker meals, or is the oven still better for some things?

What about the heat it adds to your kitchen? An oven in summer makes your AC work harder, so the real cost is even higher. Slow cookers keep things cooler and cheaper.

But a slow cooker runs for hours! My oven heats up fast and cooks a whole chicken in 90 minutes. That's a short blast of heat compared to eight hours of a plugged-in appliance. The AC can handle a quick spike way easier than a long, slow drain on the power bill. Plus, my oven's insulation is pretty good these days.

My AC bill already looks like a ransom note, so thanks for the hot tip.
