I always thought store brand trash bags were fine until my kitchen flooded at 2am
After the third cheap bag split on me in one week I grabbed a box of Glad ForceFlex and not a single leak in 6 months now... anyone else find that spending a few extra bucks on something like trash bags actually saves way more hassle in the long run?

My first kitchen flood at 2am was from a cheap bag too, but I was trying to save the leftover spaghetti... guess that didn't work out either.

Six years ago I had the same thing happen with a ziploc bag of chili I thought I sealed properly. @the_elizabeth, leftover spaghetti is one of those things you always try to save even when it's late and you're half asleep. The problem is those cheap bags don't actually seal once the food has any liquid in them. You think you pressed the zipper all the way but there's always one tiny gap near the corner. Next time try putting the whole bag inside a bowl or even double bagging it if you're storing something soupy. It's annoying but way better than waking up to a puddle at 2am.
