Heard a guy at the hardware store say he saves his glass jars for organizing nails

I was grabbing some screws yesterday and overheard this older guy telling his son how he keeps all his pickle and salsa jars for sorting small hardware in his garage. It sounds so simple but I've been throwing those out for years (and buying those little plastic bins that always crack). Has anyone else found a weird container that works way better than what you're supposed to use?

Man, that's such a smart idea, I wish I had thought of it sooner! I've been using old coffee cans for years and they work way better than anything I could buy at the store. It's funny how the simplest solutions (like repurposing something you already have) are always the best.

Old coffee cans are good but I found the glass jars from spaghetti sauce work even better for smaller stuff like washers and little screws. You can see right through them without having to open each one up looking for a specific size. I've got a whole shelf lined up with them now, labeled with a piece of masking tape and a marker. Saves me a good bit of time when I'm in the middle of a project.
