Update: A client's comment about her skin barrier made me pause

She mentioned that her previous routine had her using a strong acid every single night because she thought more was better. It took a full 8 weeks for her to heal after stopping. Makes you wonder how often we push active ingredients without checking the foundation first, you know? Has anyone else shifted their consultation questions to focus more on barrier health first?

It's wild how the whole skincare conversation got flipped... we used to just talk about which acid to use next. Now it's all about fixing what we broke. That stat from the dermatologist really shows it's a huge problem, not just a few people overdoing it. The marketing pushes us to always add another product, never to step back and heal. Makes you wonder if the real goal should be teaching people how to listen to their skin instead of just buying more stuff.

My cousin's dermatologist told her 70% of their new patients come in with barrier damage from overdoing actives. They spend the first month just getting them to use a gentle cleanser and a basic moisturizer. Makes you question the whole "more is better" marketing, doesn't it?

Guess we're all just paying to be told "stop it.
