The way I handle extractions now is a complete 180 from when I started
Back in my first year, I was all about getting in there and clearing every single thing I saw, no matter what. I'd push and press for what felt like forever, sometimes leaving a client red and sore for days. I thought that was just part of the job, you know? The real change came about six months ago after a client came back with some serious post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from a treatment I did. That was a gut punch. Now, I spend way more time on prep, using a steamer for a full 10 minutes and a gentle enzyme mask to really soften things up. If something doesn't come out with light pressure after two tries, I leave it alone and focus on aftercare. My clients heal so much faster and their skin looks better overall. Has anyone else made a big switch like this after a tough lesson?

Wait, you think redness is a good sign? That's wild to me. Redness and soreness for days sounds like damage, not good work. The whole point is to help skin, not hurt it. How do you explain causing hyperpigmentation then?
