That biore peel at the Platinum Spa in Miami wrecked my barrier

I went to the Platinum Spa in Miami for a quick biore peel after a long weekend and woke up with my skin peeling like a snake 3 days later. Turns out they layered a high percentage acid on top of a retinol treatment I got a week before and didn't check my history. Has anyone else had a spa skip the intake sheet and caused a reaction like this?

Oh wow, that sounds rough. Biore peels are already pretty strong on their own, so layering one over retinol without checking your history first is just asking for trouble. Most reputable spas have you fill out an intake form specifically to avoid stuff like this, so it's concerning they didn't bother.

My friend Jenna had the exact same thing happen at a chain spa in Denver last spring. She was on .05% tretinoin and mentioned it to the esthetician, but the girl said she'd "lighten up" the peel mix... it burned so bad she had to leave mid-treatment. Took her skin three months to fully heal and she ended up switching dermatologists over it.
