Changed my mind on those digital level apps for car leveling
I always thought you needed a real machinist level for the job, but my foreman in Chicago showed me his phone app reading within 0.02 degrees of our certified level. What's the most accurate tool you've found for setting up a car?

Wait, isn't 0.02 degrees a pretty big angle for chassis work? That's like over a tenth of an inch over a few feet. The phone might be precise, but I'd trust the certified level for actual setup.

Honestly how perfect does a street car really need to be? Most alignment racks aren't even that flat. If an app gets you close and the car drives straight, that's probably good enough for most of us. Are we building a race car or just trying to stop the tire wear?

Remember that time I tried to level a bookshelf with a phone app? The bubble level said it was perfect, but my wife pointed out it looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Sometimes "close enough" has a way of making itself very obvious later on. I guess a car pulling to one side is a lot harder to ignore than a crooked photo frame.
