Had a weird one with a 90s boombox and a can of air duster

I was trying to clean the volume pot on an old Sony, but I held the can upside down and sprayed liquid all over the board. It froze a capacitor and made this wild crackling sound for a solid minute. Anyone know a better way to flush out a scratchy slider without causing a mini ice storm?

Remember my buddy who fried his whole receiver that way?

Honestly, I've had good luck just using that method. The trick is you have to keep the can upright and use short bursts. That liquid freeze is no joke, but letting the board warm up to room temp after usually fixes it. I've brought back a few old amps that way. For a slider, working it back and forth after spraying often breaks up the grime.

Hey @mark723, is that the same as the freeze spray trick for finding bad solder joints? I read a tech forum where guys swore by it for old gear but said you gotta be careful with the plastic parts. Sounds like your method with the short bursts is the smart way to go.
