Got a request to unlock a smartwatch, felt wrong immediately

Last week, a guy brought in a smartwatch that was locked to another account. He said he found it, but wanted me to bypass the security so he could use it. I told him I couldn't do that without proof of ownership, but he offered extra cash. This puts repair folks in a bad spot, since we might accidentally help with stolen goods. I've heard stories of shops getting in trouble for similar things, like with tablets from pawn shops. Be careful with any device that has locks or seems off, always ask for receipts or IDs. It's wiser to turn down a job than risk being part of something shady.

Seriously though, doesn't that seem a bit paranoid? Most folks probably just forgot their login info.

My cousin's Instagram got hacked last summer. I used to believe everyone just forgot their logins, lmao. Seeing how quickly it happened made me realize it's not always about memory. Now I use different passwords for each site and two-factor auth. It's a bit extra, but I sleep better at night.

A friend of mine had his email hacked last year. He used the same password for everything, so it spread to his social media. Now he's super careful with passwords and uses two-factor like your cousin.
