Cleaned a corroded board with white vinegar and it worked
Found a old motherboard at a garage sale, covered in battery gunk. Tried white vinegar on a Q-tip and the corrosion just melted off. Anybody else got weird household stuff that works for cleaning?

Why would you want to clean it at all? That corrosion is just character from the board's life. I've got a old graphics card with battery acid damage and it still works fine, never touched it. Plus you gotta be careful with vinegar - it's acidic and can eat away at the traces if you leave it on too long. Rubbing alcohol is way safer and does the same job without the risk. A lot of those garage sale finds work better if you just blow the dust off and leave them alone.

Rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush works great for similar gunk on old game cartridges too.
