Just realized a simple ground fault in a 1980s panel took me a full afternoon to trace.
The neutral bar had a tiny crack you couldn't see without pulling every wire. Anyone else run into something like that in an old Bryant panel?

Seems like a lot of work for a ground fault. Those old Bryant panels are usually pretty solid. A cracked neutral bar is rare, are you sure it wasn't just a loose connection you fixed when you pulled everything?

My uncle had a similar thing happen with a pushmatic panel back in 2017. He swore up and down it was fine, spent like three hours chasing a phantom ground fault. Turned out the neutral bar was actually cracked right at the screw hole, but the crack was hairline and hidden under the grease and dust. He only found it when he took the whole bar out to clean it and it literally fell apart in his hands lol. Made a huge difference once he swapped it out.
