Heard an old foreman say "tight is tight, too tight is broken" and it clicked

Was pulling MC through a ceiling grid and kept overtightening the straps, then he walked by and said that. Has anyone else had a moment where a simple phrase just stuck with you?

Wait you were pulling MC through a ceiling grid? That's a nightmare, I've done that once and swore never again. That foreman's line is gold though, I still hear my old boss saying "measure twice cut once" every time I pick up a saw.

@wendy_park76 it's wild how those little phrases stick with you forever. That whole "measure twice cut once" thing is basically the rule for everything in life, not just wiring. Even my grocery list gets the double check now.

@verafoster's comment about the grocery list double check hits close to home. I've stood in the hardware aisle staring at two different sized bolts for ten minutes because I forgot to measure twice the first time. That foreman had a point though, I snapped a zip tie once trying to get it "just a little tighter" and it taught me the same lesson he did. Now when I'm working on anything, I stop before that last quarter turn and ask myself if it's already tight enough.
