Just noticed 3 plumbers at my hardware store grabbing the wrong pipe thread sealant

None of them checked if it was rated for natural gas lines and I had to stop one guy from using standard white tape on a gas fitting that'll dry rot in 6 months, has anyone else caught pros skipping the basics like this?

My cousin is a master plumber and I used to joke he was too picky about tape types. Then I helped him fix a gas leak last year where someone used regular white tape and the fitting was already corroded after 8 months. Now I get why he triple checks everything.

@evan_jenkins your cousin sounds like a real pro. White tape for gas is like using a bandaid on a bullet wound. I learned that lesson the hard way too, now I just let the experts handle it.
