Used to plan my whole list around the weekly ad... now I just grab whatever's close
Back in the mid 2000s I'd sit down Sunday morning with the paper from Kroger on Maple Street and map out every deal. I'd drive 3 miles extra just to save 50 cents on canned corn. Now I walk in without a list, grab the first brand I see, and don't even look at prices anymore. Anyone else stop caring about coupons after using those self-checkout machines?

Nah man I'm the opposite actually. I still clip coupons and match stuff up with the weekly deals. Takes like 10 minutes and saves me $20-30 easy. Self checkout is actually better for it since you can scan your coupons without some cashier side-eyeing you.

Ha yeah I feel that! I tried the coupon thing once and ended up standing in the checkout line for 15 minutes while the cashier had to call a manager over because my Buy One Get One coupon apparently expired yesterday. Real smooth move on my part. Now I just throw stuff in the cart and hope for the best, which is probably why my grocery bill looks like I'm feeding a small army instead of just myself and my cat. Self checkout saved me from the shame but not from my bank account crying.
