Question about the self checkout machines that scream for help over a single grape
Honestly, at my Publix in Jacksonville last Tuesday, the machine flagged my bag of apples as 'unexpected item' and I stood there for five minutes waiting for a worker. Is this just a me problem, or do these things have it out for anyone buying produce?

Just bag your produce as one big item before scanning, it tricks the scale every time.

Its wild how we all pick up these little workarounds in stores, like the whole system is just held together with tape and good intentions. Reminds me of how everyone has their own trick for avoiding fees or beating a queue.

Tricks like that always feel a little too clever for their own good... get the wrong cashier on a bad day and they might just catch it and make you redo the whole thing anyway. Plus my luck, I'd bag a banana and a bag of chips together and the scale would freak out over the weight mismatch. Not sure a few cents is worth standing there sweating while someone radios for a manager.
