I finally switched to buying store brand canned tomatoes after 10 years of name brand

I always grabbed the same red can without thinking, then last week I accidentally bought the store brand and honestly couldn't tell the difference in my chili. Saved $1.50 per can which adds up when you go through 6 cans a month. Has anyone else noticed certain items are totally fine as store brand?

Right, because who needs that extra dollar fifty when you could just... not taste the difference and pocket it instead. Next you'll tell me the store brand pain reliever is basically the same too, which is dangerous information for my wallet.

Man, you're not wrong about the pain reliever thing though. That's actually a good point because most store brand meds have the exact same active ingredients, they just have to by law. But here's what I wonder - do you think the companies making the name brand stuff know we're all figuring this out and they're just banking on habit and marketing to keep us paying more? Like, are they ever gonna drop the prices or just keep riding the brand loyalty train until we all switch?
