Failed self-checkout sensor saved me $12 on bananas

Went to the Safeway on 3rd Street Tuesday night and the self-checkout scale kept yelling at me for "unexpected item in bagging area". I tried three times to enter my 2 pounds of bananas but the sensor was losing its mind. Finally an employee walked over, hit a button, and told me "just go ahead" without weighing them. Has anyone else gotten free produce from a broken machine?

And the sensor was losing its mind" - classic self checkout moment lol. I had a similar thing happen at a Walmart where the scale thought my single avocado was a bag of rocks or something. Employee came over, gave it the old "override button" treatment and was like "just take it". Pretty sure the machine is programmed to gaslight you into buying extra stuff you don't need.

The scale at my local store actually saved me 12 bucks once by not scanning a pack of steaks twice.
