That job last week where the tape literally fell off the ceiling

I'm still mad about a job I did last Thursday in a basement in Maplewood. The customer bought their own materials because they got a 'deal' on joint compound from some store closing sale. The tape wouldn't stick for anything, kept peeling right off after we mudded it. Has anyone else had to deal with cheap compound that just won't bond to the tape?

Used to tell customers their cheap materials would work fine if you just worked it a little harder. That tape disaster last week changed my mind completely. Did you have to go back and redo the whole thing?

Yeah exactly, that's the thing - you push cheap stuff too far and it just falls apart completely. I bet that tape job was a nightmare to fix, probably had to strip everything back to the studs and start fresh.
