Spent 45 minutes hunting down a squeaky floor upstairs in a new build near Austin last Thursday and it turned out to be a loose drywall screw right next to a floor joist.

Pulled up three sheets of subfloor before I noticed the screw head was proud by maybe a millimeter, has anyone else dealt with phantom noises that trace back to the drywall instead of the framing?

Actually that sounds more like a framing issue settling than drywall since new builds often shift in their first year.

Yeah settling usually takes way longer than a year actually, more like 2-3 years for full movement.
