Pro tip: stop using a 6-inch knife for corner taping

I thought the guy at the supply house was full of it when he said to switch to a 4-inch for inside corners, but after fighting with mud globs on my last three jobs in Austin I finally tried it and the difference was night and day. Anybody else make that switch or are you still stubborn like I was?

I read that same tip in a drywall forum last month and HEARD the guy at the supply house was pushing it too, so I gave the 4-inch a shot on my last corner job. It really does cut down on the mud globs and makes the corner cleaner without all the extra sanding later. I'm still using the 6-inch for flats though, no way I'm giving that up.

Karen_nelson40 I was exactly the same way, stubborn as a mule with that 6-inch. Made my corners look like I was mudding with a putty knife from a toy tool set. Switched to the 4-inch after my fourth glob disaster and now I actually look forward to corners. Still using the wide boy for flats though, that's non-negotiable.
