Old timer told me to stop sanding between coats of mud. I argued with him for 10 minutes.
He said just lay it on thicker and move on. I always did three light coats with sanding each time. Now I'm wondering if I been wasting hours on smooth finishes that don't even matter. Anyone else get contradictory advice from veterans and actually try it?

Tbh that old timer just saved you like 3 hours per room.

Learning when to stop perfecting things that don't need it saves way more time than you'd think.
