Noticed the new townhomes down the block all have taped seams that look perfect

The crew working there seems to finish way faster than my usual pace, and I can't spot any flaws from the street. I'm thinking they might be using a different mud or technique for such clean lines. Any tips for getting that level of finish without adding hours to the job?

Yeah, I had the same issue. Use light mud for the last layers. It dries smoother and sands fast. Press the tape in good with the first coat so it sticks flat. A wide knife makes the finish blend better. Let each coat dry all the way before adding more. It feels slow but you fix less later.

Honestly, those flawless street-view seams often just hide rushed work. @jennifer_kelly18 has the right idea-sometimes a little texture means it's actually done right.

Must be nice to have seams that don't look like a distracted toddler did them. My mud always dries with the consistency of cottage cheese.
