Just realized my boss has been marking up materials 40% and pocketing the difference
Had a chat with a supplier last week at the counter in Phoenix. He let it slip what our shop rate for 5/8" firecode was. I've been invoicing clients at $18 a sheet but we're paying $12. Boss told me it was "standard markup for waste and delivery." 40% markup on top of labor? That's not standard, that's just greedy. Has anyone else caught their company doing stuff like this?

Opened a spreadsheet once thinking I'd find a 10% "convenience fee" and instead found out my boss was just calling it his "bonus from the universe.

Hate that for you, man. There's something extra gross about someone treating their employees' money like a cosmic gift. I mean, that's not a "bonus from the universe" that's just a bonus from your paycheck they decided they deserved more than you. It's the casual disrespect that gets me, like they didn't even think twice about it. Hope you got out of there or at least started looking. Nobody should have to work for someone who calls theft "manifestation.
